In 1954 Bernardo Candeleira arrives in the port of Rio de Janeiro, where a shady incident forces his desertion and he’s forced to eke out an existence. There he meets up with a friend who’s made a fortune in somewhat dubious business dealings. While Spain is immersed in the darkness of a dictatorship, Brazil is experiencing an economic miracle where wealth coexists with sordid mafia businesses.
