19th century, Buenos Aires and the Pampa, where the echo of raids still resonates in the light of the Great Calfucurá star. Will a civilized woman be able to redeem a darker soul with no weapons other than her education and perseverance? Elizabeth O'Connor, one of the American teachers who Sarmiento brings to Argentina, could not have imagined how the mission would exceed her expectations. She is brave, educated and determined, but her Irish blood is challenged more than once.
