Complete Stories
(Cuentos completos)
Literary Fiction
This volume compiles the complete short fiction output by Elena Garro, including two unpublished stories, with a prologue by Geney Beltrán. In Garro’s pages, a restless, surprising imagination and an agile and expressive use of language that’s always tinged with poetry and playfulness, coexist with a singular conception of time and a critical approach to history and reality, which highlights her determination to examine the lives of marginalized and vulnerable characters: women, children, indigenous people and the elderly. Garro’s brilliant work has earned her a place among the classic greats of Latin American literature.
