Immanuel Kant, the most influential and prestigious philosopher of the Enlightenment, died in Königsberg in 1804. The city where he was born and died celebrated a mass funeral attended by all the Prussian authorities. However, not everyone who knew the deceased professor held him in such high esteem. In the spring of 1970, Heriberto Vilalta, the owner of an important auction house in Barcelona, is murdered in his office. Inspector Pedro Almansa will investigate his death and gradually discover that what at first seemed like a simple robbery actually hides a plot of interests whose origins date back two centuries.
