Jesús Aguirre, the ‘Magnificient’, was a clergyman,a theologist and an editor; while he had all theattributes to be the black sheep of his society: theson of a single woman, a secularized -or rejected-priest and a homosexual. All these facts would havecondemned him to a civil death, if only he hadn’tclimbed to the highest Spanish aristocracy position:he married the Duchess of Alba.
